  • The operation of this section, one of the country’s most important logistics corridors with an average daily traffic of 45,000 vehicles, will extend over the next 30 years.

Elovias SA, a company in which OHLA holds a 33.3%, has started operating the BR-040/495 Highway Concession in Brazil. As of this November, the company is responsible for toll collection at the three plazas located along the concessioned section, which sees an average of 45,000 vehicles per day.

The concession, granted by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) and the Federal Government of Brazil, has a duration of 30 years and covers a total of 218.9 kilometers. The route includes the BR-040 highway, which connects Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais) with the Trevo das Missões interchange in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the BR-495 section between Itaipava and its junction with BR-040.

This road is one of the country’s most strategic logistics axes, essential both for freight transport and for boosting tourism between two of Brazil’s most dynamic regions. It also includes an urban section in Rio de Janeiro, one of the country’s most populous cities. The start of operations on the BR-040/495 highway is part of the Strategic Plan presented by OHLA last May, which outlines the company’s commitment to strengthening its concessions division in the coming years.
