OHLA, in a joint venture with GUAMAR, is carrying out the works for Subsection 1 of the Northern Section of Line 3 of the Seville Metro, a project awarded by the Andalusian Regional Government’s Department of Public Works, which represents a strategic initiative to promote sustainable mobility in the Andalusian capital. The contract has a budget of €95.7 million (including VAT), a 41-month execution period, and a total length of 2.46 kilometers, running through the Pino Montano district.
Works are currently progressing between Pino Montano Norte and Los Mares, where the execution of all diaphragm walls within the subsection has already been completed, and underground excavation has begun, reaching the first 120 meters of tunnel. The constructed walls reach depths of up to 21–22 meters and have required more than 50,000 m³ of concrete, reflecting the technical complexity and scale of the project. Most of the alignment is being built using the Cut & Cover method (cut-and-cover tunnel between diaphragm walls).
The project includes three main stations: Pino Montano Norte, the only at-grade station in the section, designed on two above-ground levels; Pino Montano, an underground station located beneath the Agricultores avenue boulevard; and Los Mares, an underground station located on Mar de Alborán street, designed as the longest station in the section to facilitate the crossing beneath the Ronda Urbana Norte. In addition, the project includes the construction of a 150-meter-long viaduct to span the SE-20 highway and the Tamarguillo stream.
In addition to the railway infrastructure, the project incorporates track solutions designed to minimize noise and vibrations, as well as a significant urban transformation, through the complete redevelopment of Agricultores and Mar de Alborán streets. The project also takes the planting of 441 new trees, representing a 23% increase in existing vegetation in the area.
Once operational, this section of Seville Metro Line 3 is expected to serve more than 44,000 daily trips, establishing itself as a key infrastructure for improving urban connectivity and advancing towards a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable public transport model.
