The project involves rehabilitation and improvement works along 246 kilometers of roadway

OHLA will carry out the rehabilitation and improvement works on the Eastern Pan-American Highway as it passes through Panama. The project covers approximately 246 kilometers between Panama City and Yaviza, in the province of Darién, and includes paving works, the expansion of rest bays and bus stops, with an estimated investment of 260 million dollars.

The contract includes a construction period of 20 months, with work scheduled to begin in June 2025. The contract has been awarded by the Concesionaria Ruta del Este.

The Eastern Pan-American Highway represents a strategic axis for connectivity and development in Panama. This infrastructure not only facilitates the movement of goods and people but is also key to accessing basic services, promoting territorial integration, and driving the socioeconomic development of communities along its route.

With this new award, OHLA consolidates and expands its presence in Panama, a country where the company maintains ongoing activity in high-impact, socially and strategically significant projects. Currently, the company is executing the extension of Panama Metro Line 1 to Villa Zaita—an essential infrastructure project aimed at improving urban mobility in the capital and enhancing access to public transportation for thousands of people. To date, the Villa Zaita Station has registered over 9 million passenger transits.

Additionally, OHLA is carrying out the improvement and expansion works at the Mendoza water treatment plant, located in the district of La Chorrera, West Panama. This project will increase the supply of potable water by 50% (an additional 20 million gallons per day) in one of the most densely populated areas of the country.
