OHLA, a global infrastructure company, continues to strengthen its presence in the Czech Republic through its subsidiary OHLA ŽS, which will take part in one of the country’s most significant railway projects: the modernization of the Brno–Přerov line. This initiative, valued at €425.7 million, is being carried out by a consortium of companies including Subterra, SWIETELSKY Rail CZ, Elektrizace železnic Praha, FIRESTA-Fišer, rekonstrukce, stavby, and OHLA itself.

The project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, involves the full reconstruction of the railway line between Kojetín and Přerov, its duplication, and the modernization of the Kojetín and Chropyně stations. The new infrastructure will enable speeds of up to 200 km/h, significantly enhancing passenger transport capacity both regionally and for long-distance travel.

In addition to technical improvements, the project includes the elimination of all level crossings, which will be replaced by overpasses, and the construction of underpasses for platform access. These actions aim to increase safety, improve user comfort, reduce infrastructure maintenance costs, and minimize environmental impact through the installation of acoustic barriers in residential areas.

The Czech Republic has become one of OHLA’s key markets in Central Europe, thanks to sustained and growing activity in the country through its subsidiary OHLA ŽS. The company has positioned itself as a benchmark in the Czech construction sector, achieving second place in the prestigious ABF Foundation Quality Rating 2025, which evaluates more than 300 construction service providers based on their accumulated achievements over the past fifteen years.

In addition to institutional recognition, OHLA has increased its presence in the country this year with the awarding of major contracts, such as the construction of the innovative “Black Cube” center in Ostrava and a new building for the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague, with a combined value of €80 million. These projects are joined by other significant initiatives such as the renovation of the D1 motorway in Brno, worth nearly €130 million.
