  • Canalejas was a bold decision in a high-risk environment. We are proud that Madrid is now the natural choice for the luxury traveler,” emphasized the president of OHLA.

MADRID – September 2025 – The president of OHLA, Luis Amodio, participated last Thursday in the commemorative event marking the fifth anniversary of the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, located within the iconic Centro Canalejas Madrid. The event celebrated the opening of the capital’s first five-star superior hotel.

During his speech, Luis Amodio highlighted that the hotel’s inauguration in September 2020 was “a bold decision in a high-risk environment” and “an act of trust in the city of Madrid, its people, and its future.” Over the past five years, the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid has earned more than 18 major national and international awards, helping to establish it as a benchmark on the global tourism map. “We are proud that Madrid is now the natural choice for the luxury traveler,” he added.

The Four Seasons Hotel Madrid is part of Centro Canalejas Madrid, a development executed by OHLA that is considered a global benchmark in urban regeneration. Its revitalization has brought about a transformative change in the city’s landscape. The restoration of seven historic buildings, including the Palacio de la Equitativa, involved the recovery of more than 17,000 ornamental pieces using artisanal techniques, restoring the original splendor of heritage elements such as the art déco stained glass window of the former Banco Zaragozano and the armored doors of today’s Galería Canalejas.

It is worth noting that Galería Canalejas has become the new international icon of luxury in the heart of Madrid. Located in one of the city’s most emblematic historic complexes, this commercial space offers a unique experience that blends fashion, luxury, history, and culture. It currently hosts six of the world’s ten most prestigious brands and over forty fashion, high jewelry, perfumery, and accessories firms, positioning itself as the epicenter of international luxury and a must-visit on the global retail map.

“From OHLA and Mohari, as owners of the complex, we are proud to have helped Madrid become a key destination for major international brands. Thanks to this

effort, Canalejas has ceased to be a place of transit and has become a destination in itself,” added Luis Amodio.

In this regard, it is worth remembering that OHLA was responsible for the design, construction, and operation of Centro Canalejas Madrid, a complex that includes Spain’s first Four Seasons Hotel, 22 branded residences with hotel services, a 400-space parking garage, and the Galería Canalejas retail space. This development, characterized by the high architectural style of 19th and early 20th century Madrid, has marked a turning point in the recognition of Madrid as an international luxury destination.
