This complex of nine buildings, arranged around a large civic plaza, constitutes the main hub of Chile’s judicial system and the largest and most modern public justice complex in Latin America. It is considered the most significant public building project developed in Santiago, Chile, in the last 50 years.
The project, with a cubic volumetric design, has a total surface area of 115,000 m² on a 4.5-hectare site. The structure is primarily composed of reinforced concrete, with architectural exposed concrete finishes, and includes columns, walls, beams, and slabs. The wall thickness is 30 cm, while the slabs are 14 cm thick.
The buildings are topped by a metal structure clad with Aluzinc roofing, while the lower section features a suspended ceiling system made of fiber cement panels with a wood-like finish, providing spatial unity and creating a large access threshold. The external cladding and façades, predominantly designed as glass curtain walls, are made up of aluminum frames and double-glazed panels with both flat and inclined geometries. A key contribution by OHLA to the project was the roof structure connection bridge linking the buildings of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Public Defender’s Office, measuring 80 meters in length and 28 meters in width.
