OHLA is involved in the construction of the new Málaga Virgen de la Esperanza Hospital, a landmark healthcare infrastructure promoted by the Regional Government of Andalusia and delivered by a joint venture comprising OHLA, Sando Construcción and Vialterra, which is set to become one of the most important hospital developments in the country.

The new hospital complex will be built on the site of the current Hospital Civil, representing a key milestone in strengthening healthcare services in the region and modernising medical care provision. The project has a total budget of €543.36 million, of which €449.06 million corresponds to the investment excluding VAT, and includes the construction of the hospital, the concession for the works and the operation of the car parks. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the 2021–2027 framework.

The future hospital will offer extensive healthcare capacity, featuring 815 rooms, an emergency department equipped with 31 medical consultation rooms, 8 nursing consultation rooms and 61 observation beds, as well as 80 ICU beds and a surgical block with 48 operating theatres. In addition, the outpatient area will include 158 rooms for medical specialties and 38 for nursing, along with dedicated spaces for teaching and research.

The entire complex has been designed based on principles of humanisation, accessibility and comfort, integrating new technologies and industrialised construction processes throughout, which will enhance efficiency, construction quality and the overall experience of both patients and healthcare professionals.
