






The Búrdalo Dam, located in the municipality of Escurial (Cáceres, Spain), is a strategic hydraulic infrastructure designed to strengthen water supply security and improve irrigation reliability in central Extremadura. The project also enhances the management of water resources associated with the final section of the Orellana Canal, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable operation of the system.
The structure has been designed as a straight gravity dam, a solution that provides outstanding stability, operational reliability and a long service life. The project plays a key role in increasing the region’s water resilience by improving water regulation capacity and ensuring greater availability of resources during periods of high demand or drought.
One of the most innovative aspects of the project was the use of the Lift-Up concrete transport system. This technology consists of a subframe that enables transport boxes to be coupled to virtually any truck, providing greater logistical flexibility and improving construction efficiency. The system helped optimize onsite operations, reduce execution times and adapt transportation resources to the specific requirements of the project.
In addition, the modular nature of the Lift-Up system offers a significant sustainability advantage. Once construction is completed, the equipment can be dismantled, loaded into standard shipping containers and transported anywhere in the world for reuse on future projects. This innovative solution maximizes resource efficiency, reduces the need for dedicated transport equipment and reinforces the sustainability of the construction process.
